Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is an ancient and vital holistic system of health and healing. It is based on the principles of harmony and balance, and emphasizes the ideas of moderation and prevention. TCM has been practised for over 3000 years and continues to be developed further.
In TCM the focus is not on the illness itself, but on treating the whole person and their life energy. The life energy or Qi (pronounced “chee“) regulates all the body functions.
If there are health disorders, the Qi will be blocked and the energy out of balance. In TCM it is simply a matter of finding and treating these blockages.
Although acupuncture is the most widely known TCM method, there are also several other effective treatments including herbal remedies, nutrition, moxibustion, tuina and cupping.
