Did you know...?
Natural remedies have to satisfy official regulations.
Herbal medicines produced in Switzerland or imported from abroad are subject to the “Heilmittelgesetz” (HMG) – the Swiss federal law on medicines and medical products. This guarantees the safety of medicines, including TCM natural remedies from official sources.
To be sold in Switzerland, herbal medicines have to pass checks made by the cantonal authorities and be registered with Swissmedic, the Swiss body for registering and monitoring medicines and medical products. Medical professionals and patients alike can therefore be sure that products from official sales channels meet strict standards.
Quality assurance throughout the manufacturing process
All plant-based ingredients, including those from abroad, are monitored from the time of manufacture through to the point of transportation and processing in pharmacies. Each stage is documented to ensure that the whole production and supply chain has been checked.
Quality of herbal medicines
The quality and efficacy of TCM natural remedies depend on their botanical identity and their purity. Other influences include the weather conditions where they grow – either as wild or cultivated plants – as well as the soil type, any processing they undergo, and the conditions in which they are transported and stored. Our responsible suppliers pay careful attention to all these aspects. They also take ecological factors into account: no endangered plants may be imported into Switzerland.
Online shopping and direct imports – no thanks!
Government rules mean that the natural medicines used in Traditional Chinese Medicine may only be prescribed by qualified TCM therapists and sold in pharmacies. Purchase from online stores or use of direct imports is strongly discouraged. Unchecked products can be harmful to health.
